The Singapore Aerospace industry is turning a corner. Aerospace production levels in March 2022 exceeded pre-pandemic levels for the first time on a monthly basis. Growth continues to be robust and in August 2022 aerospace output expanded 27.9% on a year-to-date basis.


AAIS members are invited to a preview of the refreshed Aerospace Industry Transformation Map by EDB. The refreshed Aerospace ITM outlines the strategies and initiatives that the Singapore government will pursue to support the recovery of the industry from the pandemic and position it for growth.

    Ms Glory Wee is the Senior Vice President and Head of the Resource Development and Advanced Manufacturing Divisions of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). She is responsible for shaping and developing industrial resource policies in the areas of land, infrastructure, utilities and greenhouse gas emissions, to bolster the sustainable development of industries in Singapore; as well as designing and executing national strategies to drive the transformation and growth of Singapore’s manufacturing ecosystem.

    Prior to her current appointments, Glory was Director of the Aerospace, Marine & Offshore, and Urban Solutions Cluster at JTC Corporation; and was formerly Director for Financial Incentives in EDB’s Business Environment Division. She has also held various positions in EDB’s Transport Engineering Cluster (Aerospace, Offshore & Marine), Human Resources Division, as well as in the Singapore Ministry of Finance’s Economic Programmes Directorate.

    Glory graduated with a MSc in Economics and a BSc in Economics (First Class) from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

    Mr Abiel Neo is the Assistant Vice President for the Capital Goods Division at theSingapore Economic Development Board (EDB), where he leads EDB’s efforts to develop and grow Singapore’s Aerospace industry.

    Since joining EDB in 2010, Abiel has worked closely with aerospace companies including Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, GE Aviation, Rolls-Royce & ST Aerospace, to facilitate their investments into Singapore and transform their operations here. He also spent some time in the Human Capital Division, where he worked with companies and Singapore’s manpower agencies to attract and develop talent for the Energy & Chemicals, Marine & Offshore and Precision Engineering industries.

    Abiel was based in Los Angeles from 2015 to 2018, where he was the primary caregiver for his 2 children. He is passionate about nature conservation and is the Chairman of the Butterfly & Insect Group in Nature Society (Singapore).

    He graduated with a Master of Engineering (First Class Honours) in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London.

    Mr Ng was appointed Chief Commercial Officer at SIA Engineering Company on 1 April 2022. Prior to his latest appointment, he was previously responsible for the Line Maintenance, Fleet Management, Engineering, Innovation and Information Technology divisions. He joined SIAEC in August 1994 and has held various senior positions in Line Maintenance Division and Information Technology Division. He was appointed Vice President Line Maintenance in 2011 and Vice President Information Technology in 2015. In addition, Mr Ng has also been seconded to Singapore Airlines, where he served in the areas of Material Management and Fleet Management.

    Mr Ng is the Chairman of Singapore Aero Support Services Pte. Ltd., Deputy Chairman of Safran Landing Systems Services Singapore Pte Ltd, and a Director of Southern Airports Aircraft Maintenance Services Co. Ltd.

    Mr Ng holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

    Dr. Kenneth Low is Associate Professor, Deputy Cluster Director and Programme Leader in the Engineering Cluster of the Singapore
    Institute of Technology (SIT). He is part of the Cluster Leadership Team and chairs the Cluster Evaluation Committee overseeing
    Academic Staff Promotion Committee and Faculty Recruitment Committee.

    As Programme Leader, he oversees programme development, management and industry linkages of the joint Bachelor of
    Engineering (Hons) in Marine Engineering; Naval Architecture; Offshore Engineering (MNO); and Naval Architecture & Marine
    Engineering (NAME).

    Before joining SIT, Assoc Prof Low served as Assistant Vice President of ST Engineering (ST Aerospace). He was part of a key team responsible for strategic business development, joint venture agreement (JVA) and merger & acquisition (M&A) for ST Aerospace Engines. He also served as Adviser for ST Engineering in 2014 and 2015. Between 2007 and 2011, he served as Chief Designer (Mechanical) in the Design Office and subsequently, Director (Marine Systems) in the Engineering Design Center of ST Engineering (ST Marine).

    Assoc Prof Low graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from University of Newcastle upon
    Tyne (UK) in 1998. He was conferred the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham (UK) in 2001. Assoc Prof Low is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered Marine Engineer.
