Summary
The Aerospace industry is actively deploying advanced technologies and digitalisation to manufacturing and MRO processes. In the Singapore context, these efforts are in line with the strategies outlined in the Aerospace Industry Transformation Map. Desired outcomes include enhanced quality, higher productivity and optimisation of human capital.
In this seminar, we examine progress in the field of AI deep learning for machine vision used in the inspection of complex metal parts, and the deployment of robotics for inspection. We also share a perspective on additive manufacturing for aerospace applications and hear how the Nanyang Polytechnic can assist companies to transform their factory floor and workflow processes. A highlight of the event is the live demonstration of cobots and mobile robots!
Key topics
- AI Deep Learning Machine Vision: This is enabling the detection of surface defects in complex metal parts with unprecedented accuracy.
- Cobots and Mobile Robots for flexibility: Mobile robots and cobots allow for system mobility, enabling the inspection of large parts and movement between different stations in manufacturing environments.
- Additive Manufacturing for Aerospace Applications: Additive Manufacturing techniques are being used to create lightweight, durable parts for aerospace applications, reducing material waste and enabling rapid prototyping and production.
- Real-World Applications and Demo: Case studies and industry examples showcasing these systems.
