Asia Pacific Summit for Aviation Safety 2023 |
|
The Asia Pacific Summit for Aviation Safety (AP-SAS) 2023 was held from 22 to 24 March 2023 at Marina Bay Sands. Organised by the Flight Safety Foundation and CAAS, some 450 senior leaders and aviation professionals from regulators, airlines, aircraft manufacturers, maintenance organisations, air navigation service providers and aerodrome operators from across the Asia Pacific region came together to discuss aviation safety challenges and initiatives.
A highlight of the event was the announcement of a new Asia Pacific Centre for Aviation Safety in Singapore to be set up by the Flight Safety Foundation. It aims to help aviation stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region raise safety standards and capabilities to ramp up operations safely as air travel recovers to pre-pandemic levels.
AP-SAS featured three tracks: Air Navigation Services/Aerodrome, Flight Operations and Engineering. AAIS Chief Executive, as a member of the AP-SAS Programme Development Committee, chaired the Engineering track and summarised the discussions at the Wrap Up session on Day Three. The two Engineering workshops on ‘Procedural Drift and its Effects’ and ‘Leveraging the Predictive Maintenance Regime’ moderated by AAIS featured speakers representing Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Air France, ST Engineering Commercial Aerospace, Lufthansa Technik, Boeing and Rolls-Royce. |
