How will Singapore Budget 2023 impact your business? 10 May 2023 (Wednesday), 10am - 12nn
A number of developments arising from Singapore's Budget 2023 may have an impact on the net-of-tax return on business investments. Of particular note, Singapore will be joining the EU, Japan, Korea and other countries in implementing the Global Anti-Base Erosion (GloBE) rules and Domestic Top-Up Tax of 15%, affecting financial years from 1 January 2025 onwards.
On the other hand, the Enterprise Innovation Scheme has been introduced to encourage businesses to engage in R&D, innovation, and capability development activities. This scheme includes a cash conversion option, which would be especially helpful for SMEs.
To help you navigate these changes, AAIS is pleased to present two experts from EY who will share their insights on the above developments and what you should take into consideration. The presentations will be followed by an opportunity to obtain answers to your questions. AAIS members attend for free. |

Aerospace Industry Performance 1Q2023
Singapore's aerospace sector grew 16.1% in the first three months of 2023 compared to the same period a year ago. According to data from the Economic Development Board (EDB), the aerospace segment grew 22.5% in March 2023 with more maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) jobs from commercial airlines on the back of increased global air traffic. Preliminary data for March 2023 charted industry output at 39.8% higher than the 2019 baseline. |
|
Overall business sentiments in the manufacturing sector are slightly positive, as companies expect China’s reopening and the drawing down of inventories to support demand in the next six months. The Aerospace sector remains the most optimistic, with a net weighted 63% of firms expecting a favourable business environment in the next six months as firms continue to expect higher demand for aircraft MRO activity amidst strong demand for air travel. |

| In response to new global developments in the post-pandemic era, the Singapore government recently presented Budget 2023. A number of developments arising from the Budget may have an impact on the net-of-tax return on business investments. Aerospace business leaders and tax and finance professionals should take note of these, even as the industry recovers and sees a flurry of new activities and investments. - Singapore will be joining the EU, Japan, Korea and other countries in implementing the Global Anti-Base Erosion (GloBE) rules and Domestic Top-Up Tax of 15%, affecting financial years from 1 January 2025 onwards. For companies enjoying existing tax incentives in Singapore such as the Pioneer-manufacturing incentive, Development and Expansion Incentive and Aircraft Leasing Scheme, the introduction of these rules may have an impact on the benefits originally anticipated.
- Singapore has introduced the Enterprise Innovation Scheme to encourage businesses to engage in R&D, innovation and capability development activities. This scheme also includes a cash conversion option, which would be especially helpful for small and medium enterprises.
AAIS is pleased to present two speakers from EY to share about the above developments and what you should take into consideration. The presentations will be followed by an opportunity to obtain answers to your questions. AAIS Members attend for free, and Non-Members for a fee. | |
