Industry Output & Passenger Traffic Data

Preliminary data from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) reveals robust growth in the aerospace sector throughout 2024. Cumulative output from January to December 2024 recorded an expansion of 14.7% year-on-year. Based on the S$15.4 billion output achieved in 2023, the estimated output for 2024 exceeds S$17 billion.

At Changi Airport, 67.7 million passenger movements were recorded in 2024, which is 99.1% of pre-COVID levels and a 14.8% year-on-year increase. Aircraft movements and airfreight throughput also surpassed 2023 levels. Changi is ranked as the fourth busiest international airport globally by seat capacity.

Recent Activities
Inaugural Student Leaders Summit 2025

On 24 January 2025, AAIS hosted its inaugural Student Leaders Summit, marking the launch of the new AAIS-Affiliated Student Clubs initiative. The event featured a keynote by Glory Wee, Senior Director (Aviation Development Group) at CAAS, on "Frontiers in Aviation and Aerospace: A Singapore Perspective." This was followed by an engaging executive panel discussion with leaders from Rolls-Royce Singapore, Pratt & Whitney Component Solutions, and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF).

In the afternoon, student leaders got a chance to visit Pratt & Whitney Component Solutions. This was followed by a hands-on workshop where student leaders from four clubs came together to brainstorm and explore opportunities for future partnerships. AAIS extends its gratitude to event sponsors Transfingo and Global Airfreight, as well as venue host Embry-Riddle Asia.

Memorandum of Cooperation between AAIS and ASTM International

AAIS and ASTM International recently formalised a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to promote greater exchange of information and participation in the international standards-setting process. The MOC was signed by AAIS Chief Executive Sia Kheng Yok and ASTM International President Andrew Kireta Jr on 23 January, during the latter’s visit to Singapore.

The signing ceremony was also attended by AAIS President Wong Yue Jeen, AAIS 1VP Pang Yong Kiang, ASTM Vice President for Global Cooperation Teresa Cendrowska, ASTM Director for Asia Elvin Chia, and CAAS Director, Technology, Engineering & Planning, Unmanned Systems Group, Tan Chun Wei.

This coming Chinese New Year, let’s come together as the Singapore Aerospace Community to spread warmth and joy to the elderly. AAIS is proud to coordinate Aerospace Community Day 2025, a meaningful initiative to give back to society.

We’ll be organising festive activities, snacks, and red packets for over 70 residents at St John's Home for Elderly Persons and 400 residents at Bright Hill Evergreen Home.

How You Can Help:

  • Donation or Sponsorship to cover cost of lunches, oranges, and red packets.
  • Volunteer to prepare/distribute gifts and engage with the elderly.

Your generous contribution is sought to help defray the expenses and bring some smiles and a touch of festive cheer to our deserving elderly beneficiaries. We look forward to your strong support!

ERAU Aviation and Aerospace Safety Summit

In conjunction with the launch of its new campus at Seletar Aerospace Park, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is hosting an Aviation and Aerospace Safety Summit on 14 February from 2pm-6pm. This event will bring together industry leaders, safety professionals, and regulators to address critical challenges and opportunities in aviation safety.

The keynote address, "The Critical Role of Safety Leadership," will be delivered by The Honorable Robert Sumwalt, Executive Director of the Boeing Center for Aviation and Aerospace Safety at ERAU. A former Chairman and Member of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) for 15 years, Sumwalt brings a wealth of expertise to the discussion. The event also features an expert panel on Aviation and Aerospace Safety Culture and networking opportunities.

Drones & Uncrewed Asia
