AAIS Forges New KOSME Partnership and Renews Commitment with GIFAS

As part of AAIS' ongoing efforts to expand our global networks and promote innovation and collaboration across borders, AAIS recently signed two Memoranda of Understanding with GIFAS of France and KOSME of South Korea.

On 20 March 2024, AAIS joined hands with the Korean SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) through an MOU aimed at catalysing business synergies between AAIS members and Korean SMEs and startups. The MOU was signed by Mr Kang Seog Jin, President of KOSME, and AAIS President Mr Wong Yue Jeen, during the former's visit to Seletar Aerospace Park.
On 20 February, AAIS welcomed Mr Frederic Parisot, Managing Director of GIFAS, the French aerospace association, to the Singapore Pavilion at the Singapore Airshow. During this meeting, AAIS and GIFAS renewed our association ties by signing an MOU renewal, reaffirming our dedication to collaborative endeavours in innovation and knowledge exchange.

SG Aerospace Industry Solar Adoption Report 2023

AAIS and JTC have released the latest edition of the Singapore Aerospace Industry Solar Adoption Report. First published in 2021, the report tracks solar adoption in aerospace facilities in Singapore. SAISAR 2023 demonstrates significant progress in solar deployment by Singapore aerospace companies, as part of industry’s collective efforts towards reducing its carbon footprint.

Singapore Airshow 2024: The AAIS Wrap-Up

Singapore Airshow was a global stage for AAIS to showcase the strengths of the Singapore aerospace industry. Highlighting our industry's recovery and $15 billion output in 2023, AAIS positioned Singapore companies as ideal partners for regional growth, encouraging partnership and collaboration to capitalise on opportunities in the Asia-Pacific markets.
Driving Industry Conversations
We kicked off Airshow Week by partnering with A*STAR to co-organise the Singapore Aerospace Technology Leadership Forum 2024. This first-class thought-leadership event gathered nine Chief Technology Officers from global aerospace corporations. Panel discussions explored groundbreaking concepts and thought-provoking discussions shaping the future of aviation.

In our first collaboration with the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics (CSAA), AAIS co-hosted the China-Singapore Bilateral Aviation Forum on 22nd February. With the anticipated growth of commercial aviation in Asia-Pacific in the coming decades, the event underscored the tremendous potential for international industry cooperation. 
Singapore SMEs Shine: The Singapore Pavilion
AAIS facilitated the Singapore Pavilion, which buzzed with activity from Day 1. With 27 exhibitors, the Pavilion was the biggest contingent of Singapore SMEs at this event to date. Exhibitors showcased the ecosystem’s strengths and attracted the attention of attendees and VIPs with notable visitors including DPM Heng Swee Keat, SMS Zaqy Mohamad, MOS Alvin Tan and several other senior government officials, as well as military and business delegations.

Making and Deepening Connections
The Airshow was also ripe grounds for deepening connections and exploring new partners and collaborators. AAIS hosted an International Networking Lunch on Day 2 at the Seletar-themed JTC booth. The luncheon saw exciting announcements, with attendees comprising AAIS members, partners, Singapore Pavilion exhibitors, and visiting delegates from Australia, Canada, France and Japan.
The event witnessed the launch of the Aerospace Open Innovation Challenge (AOIC), an initiative by Enterprise Singapore and JTC Corporation supported by AAIS and EDB. Through the AOIC, startups and SMEs are invited to provide solutions for 12 challenge statements issued by aerospace corporates in Singapore.

AAIS also hosted the signing of a MOU) between the Hague Court of Arbitration for Aviation (HCAA) and the Singapore Int'l Mediation Centre (SIMC). This marks Asia’s first specialised mediation framework for the aviation industry, promising a fast, flexible, and cost-effective mode of dispute resolution.

AAIS also took the opportunity to solidify partnerships with like-minded organisations. During the week, we hosted a dinner reception for representatives from the Global Aerospace Cluster Summit, and connected with senior representatives from Aero Montreal, ASTM International and the Royal Aeronautical Society.

In the lead-up to and during the event, the Singapore Pavilion and its exhibitors received attention from the media, garnering coverage from mainstream, business, industry, and social media outlets.

We thank Singapore Pavilion exhibitors, agency partners and counterparts, members and all who participated in our activities. We also congratulate partners and members on the strategic partnerships, initiatives, and investments announced during the week, which are set to drive the progress of our aerospace sector.

 
Drones and Uncrewed Asia 2024

Drones & Uncrewed Asia 2024 event was held on 6-7 March in conjunction with GeoConnect Asia. AAIS was at the show supporting the Singapore UAS Community and engaging with regulators and industry. Among exhibitors were our community members; Viasat, Avetics Global, Heron AirBridge, SwissDrones, Temasek Polytechnic, Thales and YJP Surveyors. Highlights of the conference sessions include thought-provoking panel discussions on Harmonizing Operational Procedures: Converging Paths Towards Standardization and "How the Asia Pacific Region is Leading the Way in Autonomous Aviation". The event was also marked by the customary Singapore UAS Community drinks reception, co-hosted by Viasat.
