Singapore Aerospace Industry Output 1H2024
Singapore's aerospace sector continued its strong performance in the first half of 2024, recording a cumulative growth of 16.4% year-on-year. While this growth moderated from an impressive 25.4% y-o-y surge in Q1, the sector remained robust. The Monthly Manufacturing Performance report by EDB noted this growth was driven by higher aircraft parts production and more maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) jobs from commercial airlines. In June alone, the sector grew by 12.4% year-on-year, a significant 41.4 points above pre-pandemic June 2019 levels.
With global air travel surpassing pre-pandemic levels, Singapore aerospace companies continue to expect healthy demand for MRO jobs. Notably, 100% of aerospace firms surveyed for the "Business Expectations of the Manufacturing Sector" report anticipate a sustained or improved business outlook in the second half of 2024 compared to the second quarter. |
